The 700Mb ISO is available to download from www.ubuntu.com or if you prefer, there are VMware Virtual Appliances to download from www.vmware.com.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) stand-alone is now available to download for Technet subscribers.

Non Technet users will be able to download Windows XP SP3 on April 29 using Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.

Following on to my post a couple of days back, Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) has now been released to manufacturing (RTM). Chris Keroack, Microsoft Release Manager for Windows Service Pack 3 posted this information to the Technet forums just today.

Chris goes on to say that XP SP3 will be available via the Windows Update and Microsoft Download Center on April 29. Automatic updates will likey not get this latest release until June.

Symantec has released the long awaited Maintenance Release 2 (MR2) for their Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 (SEP) software.

This code release now adds support for Windows 2008 Server along with a rather large list of fixes. Many issues with the original release and MR1 seemed to be system performance related, or the lack of it. System resources were taxed far too much to be usable in many environments.

Adobe has ventured into online photo editing and storage with the release of Photoshop Express.

Photoshop Express is a free public beta which allows you to edit your photos online and store up to 2Gb of your favorite photos on their servers.

Whilst this is a beta product, it is feature rich with many popular image editing options in a simple to use interface.

Most internet users have likely had to unzip files that they have downloaded either from a website or in an email attachment. Also many of us zip files prior to sending them via email to save transmission time and space.

Although Windows XP and Vista both have built in file compression utilities, most people still prefer to use Winzip. Wizip is easy to use and compresses files very well, but it’s not a free product.
