Chrome Web Store Open Now

Google’s Chrome Web Store is a website where you can search and browse for apps, extensions and themes for Google Chrome.

Apps are advanced interactive websites
Extensions add functionality to your web browser
Themes allow you to alter the look and feel, or design of your web browser

Although only just launched, there are many items to check out. Some are free, but many are paid products.

If you are an iTunes user, you will quickly get the idea of how it works.

Google Announces Cr-48 Chrome Notebook Pilot Program

Internet behemoth Google has announced it’s newest venture, a notebook computer running its Chrome operating system.

The Cr-48 notebook is initially only available via Google’s pilot program to allow real world use and testing.

Google says that, “Each participant in the Pilot program will receive a Cr-48 Chrome notebook; in return, we’ll expect you to use it regularly and send us detailed feedback.”

Interested? Bear in mind that Chrome OS does not run normal PC software, instead, it runs web based applications.

Google Releases Nexus S Smartphone

Google today took the veil off its newest smartphone, the Nexus S. This release comes almost a year after the Nexus One smartphone, and is the first Android based device to ship with the new version named “Gingerbread”.

The Nexus S is co-developed by Google and Samsung and, “delivers what we call a pure Google experience: unlocked, unfiltered access to the best Google mobile services and the latest and greatest Android releases and updates.”

Google Gmail Introduces Themes

Do you use Google Gmail? Is so, you can now change the default Gmail display theme to one of many new variations. Changing the theme from the default allows you to customize the look and feel of your Gmail account.

For novelty value, some themes even change their look depending on if it’s day or night or even differing weather conditions. This is controlled by the location you set when you select the theme.

Changing themes is very simple. Just click a thumbnail on the themes tab the settings page, then save your settings.

Google is rolling out these new theme over the next few days to all their servers. It you don’t see the themes tab on your settings tab just yet, it wont be long.

Google Chrome Enters Browser Market

Google has entered the browser war by releasing an internet browser which they have called Chrome. Google’s Chrome browser will compete directly with industry leaders Microsoft (Internet Explorer) and Mozilla (Firefox).

Currently only available for Windows users, but Google are looking to release a Mac version in the future.
